Methods
At the Global Writing Incubator, our methods blend creative exploration with rigorous structure, equipping scholars to turn ideas into compelling manuscripts. Participants develop storylines, use color coding to track arguments, and create mind maps to organize ideas. Argument exercises build clarity, while worksheets break the writing process into manageable steps. Freewriting encourages regular practice. Each cohort shares drafts and feedback in a mini-conference, building skills and community along the way.
“It was a great experience to be part of the workshop! Mind maps were a major takeaway for me: they significantly improved my critical thinking and helped me produce superior-quality, organized writing.”
“I learned how to follow a step-by-step procedure to bring out my argument, and how to use my argument as a red thread throughout my whole paper.”
“Like many scholars from Europe and Africa, I had never learned academic writing. This workshop taught me how to approach it, from introduction to conclusion. The arrangement of the workshop, a mix of individual tasks and group discussions, significantly developed my learning.”
